What to mention
Notice more than the temperature.
- No hot water or a shorter supply than normal
- Popping, rumbling, or hissing from the unit
- Rust-colored or cloudy hot water
- Moisture at a valve, connection, or tank base
- Water that becomes dangerously hot
Keep clear of gas and electrical hazards.
Do not touch wet electrical components. If you smell gas, leave the area and contact the gas utility or emergency services from a safe location.
Hard water can affect performance.
Mineral accumulation may contribute to noise, reduced capacity, and efficiency loss. Age, tank condition, access, and the failed component still determine the sensible recommendation.
